Haarlem krijgt 160 nieuwe woningen op ‘t Hier De Haarlemse wijk ‘t Hier wordt uitgebreid met 160 nieuwe woningen. Het gaat om een mix van sociale huur, middenhuur en koopwoningen. De bouw start naar verwachting in 2023 en zal ongeveer twee jaar duren. De nieuwe woningen komen op het terrein van de voormalige Van Gend & Loos-garage. Dit terrein is al geruime tijd braakliggend en vormt nu een gapend gat in de wijk. De gemeente Haarlem is blij dat er eindelijk nieuwbouw op deze plek komt. “We willen dat Haarlem een stad is waar iedereen kan wonen”, zegt wethouder Wonen Marieke van Doorninck. “Deze nieuwe woningen dragen bij aan dat doel. Er is veel behoefte aan betaalbare woningen in Haarlem, en deze nieuwbouwprojecten helpen ons om aan die behoefte te voldoen.” De nieuwe woningen worden gebouwd door woningcorporatie Ymere en ontwikkelaar BPD. Ymere zal 40 sociale huurwoningen bouwen. BPD bouwt 70 middenhuurwoningen en 50 koopwoningen. De nieuwe woningen zijn onderdeel van een groter plan om de wijk ‘t Hier te vernieuwen. De gemeente Haarlem wil de wijk groener en duurzamer maken. Er komen onder andere nieuwe parken, speelplaatsen en fietsroutes.
