Jazzfestival Swingin’ Groningen keert terug naar VanBeresteyn
Muziek-, Dans- en Theaterschool Veendam organiseert op zaterdag 29 juni het Jazzfestival Swingin’ Groningen in theater VanBeresteyn. Dit jaar staat het festival in het teken van Groninger jazzsaxofonisten, met optredens van lokale grootheden als Rein de Graaff en Sjoerd en Gijs Dijkhuizen. Het avondprogramma begint om 18.00 uur met Jazzbusters van Tineke Koops. Om 19.00 uur treedt het Groninger Stage Band Jazz Orchestra op met supertalent Ben van Gelder. In de foyer speelt om 20.00 uur het Trio Miguel Martinez met Groningers Jeroen Vierdag en John Engels. In de Nedmagzaal treedt daarna The Eric Ineke JazzXpress op, met Sjoerd Dijkhuizen, pianist Rob van Bavel en Rein de Graaff. Docent en jazzmusicus Will Jasper sluit de avond af om 22.15 uur met zijn kwartet, waarin ook Joe Dinkelbach, Frans van Geest en Gijs Dijkhuizen spelen.

“We zetten dit jaar echt de talenten van de provincie in het zonnetje”, aldus Harry van der Laan, programmeur en directeur van Muziek-, Dans- en Theaterschool Veendam. “Grote namen voor de jazzkenners, maar ook veel jonge talenten.” Of het festival ook de komende jaren kan doorgaan, hangt af van een aanvraag bij de provincie.
