De Fritz Stolz-Preis wordt jaarlijks uitgereikt door de Zwitserse Vereniging voor Religiewetenschappen (SGR) voor het beste proefschrift op het gebied van religiewetenschap dat in het voorgaande jaar aan een Zwitserse universiteit is verdedigd. Van Rijn deelde de prijs van 2024 met Christina Wyttenbach. Het proefschrift van Van Rijn onderzoekt spirituele dierenmagnetiseerders uit het midden van de 19e eeuw die experimenteel probeerden het bestaan en de inhoud van een hiernamaals te bewijzen. Deze magnetiseerders maken deel uit van een lange geschiedenis van ‘onderzoek naar het hiernamaals’, dat zich uitstrekt van 1784 tot heden en een gedeelde experimentele cultuur heeft. De jury prees het onderzoek als vernieuwend en origineel en een belangrijke bijdrage aan het historisch religieonderzoek.
