Tanja Cuppen is de nieuwe dijkgraaf van Waterschap Rivierenland. Ze volgt Arno Bouwmeester op, die sinds 2013 dijkgraaf was. Cuppen is afkomstig uit Zaltbommel en was eerder wethouder in de gemeente West Betuwe. Cuppen is verheugd over haar nieuwe functie. “Ik ben trots dat ik als dijkgraaf mag bijdragen aan de veiligheid en het waterbeheer in Rivierenland”, aldus Cuppen. “Het waterschap staat voor grote uitdagingen, zoals klimaatverandering en de gevolgen daarvan voor de waterveiligheid. Ik wil me samen met het bestuur en de medewerkers inzetten om deze uitdagingen het hoofd te bieden.” Cuppen is de eerste vrouwelijke dijkgraaf van Waterschap Rivierenland. Ze ziet dat als een mooie stap vooruit. “Het is belangrijk dat vrouwen ook in leidinggevende functies vertegenwoordigd zijn”, aldus Cuppen. “Ik hoop dat mijn benoeming anderen inspireert om hun dromen na te jagen.” Cuppen zal op 1 januari 2023 officieel haar functie als dijkgraaf aanvaarden.
