Fototentoonstelling ‘New Dutch Views’ in de Grote Kerk In de historische Grote Kerk van Breda vindt op dit moment de indrukwekkende fototentoonstelling ‘New Dutch Views’ plaats. In his series, “New Dutch Views,” Bassiouni visited over 70 mosques across the Netherlands. By carefully juxtaposing the Dutch landscape with the mosque’s interior, he creates a unique fusion of cultures. The viewer is left to interpret these images, often encountering a new vantage point on their own surroundings. Bassiouni’s artistic journey began during his studies at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he started photographing the places he prayed. In his work, he intertwines his identity as an artist and his Islamic faith. These introspective images explore the duality of self through the lens of spirituality and artistic expression. Born in 1985 in Morges, Switzerland, Marwan Bassiouni is an artist and photographer based in Amsterdam. His large-scale works navigate the fluid boundaries of documentary practice, fine art, and intercultural dialogue. Bassiouni’s photographs examine the aesthetics and poetry of documentary photography, focusing on themes of identity, spirituality, culture, and representation. His work has been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at the Fotomuseum Den Haag and Fotomuseum Winterthur. Notable group exhibitions include The Shanghai Center of Photography, The Benaki Museum, Humanity House, and various festivals. Bassiouni’s contributions have been recognized and acquired by both private and public art collections worldwide.

De tentoonstelling toont het werk van acht hedendaagse Nederlandse fotografen. De fotografen hebben een persoonlijke blik op Nederland geworpen en laten in hun werk zien hoe zij het land ervaren. De tentoonstelling biedt een veelzijdig beeld van Nederland, van de steden tot het platteland en van de natuur tot de mensen.
