Only four parties in the city council voted against the expansion plans, arguing that the potential consequences of the growth had not been fully investigated. They called for further research and a referendum on the issue, but their proposals were rejected by the majority of the council. ASML will conduct further studies to assess the feasibility of the BIC campus as an expansion site, including examining the power supply and potential impact of future activities at Eindhoven Airport, which is located nearby. The company expects to make a final decision on the expansion by the end of the year and hopes to begin using the new facilities by 2030.
